"People who don't bother reading the rules or explanations for anything and then are totally surprised they've gotten it wrong. Also, anyone who thinks lit is neglected. Thank you for stomping on everyone's ongoing efforts!
"The categories are very confusing to navigate. I often get lost when I'm trying to categorize something that I don't do very often. I also don't know what half the stuff means Some of them aren't very useful, or lots of people don't know what it is, and it is just fuel for miscategorizations."
"I send out a lot
s. & yes, the whole folders do
help - but sometimes when I'm working with someone on a commission, or am discussing a contest with a participant... I would like to just search their name
s & have INSTANT
"1. It kind of bothers me that there are we only get two literature DDs out of how many total? I understand that there are a lot of art categories on dA, but it's kind of aggravating anyway. >.>
2. Porn. Porn and MySpace pictures. This might make me sound judgmental, but aaaggghhhh. I understand that art is very subjective, but I feel like there is a glaring gap between what's acceptable to post in your gallery and what you should be reserving for your new Facebook album. And porn is just no. There really is a difference between artistic nude and porn. I know it's ridiculously hard to define, but a little common sense would be wonderful."
"Though the mobile experience on deviantART has improved vastly, I still would like to see a dedicated iOS app (and presumably, one for Android users, too). There's a lot of functionality that dedicated apps can support that isn't currently supported that could be."
"This is one that has been said before, but do we really need all these groups that do the same thing? I wish people would help out with similar groups that already exist or adopt defunct ones with the same purpose instead of making fifty bajillion groups.
"1. I would like to get some sort of Notification system. I dont get as many notes or comments or favs as some of the others on here and I have to check to see f anything has been posted when alot of times it has not. I not a programmer and dont know how hard different avenues would be but something like if anything is posted to your account you are sent a email?
2.This has been touched on but a new upgraded search engine. Its impossible to find something that you saw at a past time either art, journal or even a person."
"1. All those who complain that there aren't enough lit DDs or lit CVs. Its a COMMUNITY EFFORT to get regular DDs, we just hit the button to set them. I just wish we had better ways to obtain more suggestions than wasting hours hunting and combing through just to find one. For example, this week I have received a total of 3 suggestions via note- I'd love to have 3 a day!2. People who don't read the forum stickies.
"1. You need to have a Premium Membership to do EVERYTHING here! Is completely insane! They have the online shop where you can do your Christmas, School, Black Friday, or ANY other shopping you'd need! You can shop for all your DA related needs there so WHY do you need MORE money?! Points I can understand because you can either use those or actual cash to acquire different things but paying to have access to extra widgets to your page and the stash, to change your name, and to use the "More like this" option? I'm not paying for that!"
"My biggest complaint deviantart from the moment I joined the site was the lack of guidance given to newcomers. Not in art itself, but with site navigation. Of course, I did join quite a while ago, so I don't know if things have changed. However, I was completely lost when I first joined this site. I had no idea where everything was. I had no idea how to do anything on this site. I guess it is a thing you learn over time no matter what, but it seemed to take a much longer time for deviantart. I still don't fully understand plz accounts etc. I think it'd be nice if the site itself gave some more guidance for site navigation."
"2. To me suggesting a DD is frustrating because every category/ volunteer has their own guidelines, and since I forget them quite easily I keep having to re-read them. It feels a bit messy. I know this sounds like a far-fetched idea, but perhaps there could become an entirely different function on the site which allows for users to fill in a form specific to a category they choose. Maybe that would help with getting more literature suggestions as well. Or maybe I'm just a terribly lazy person."
"My biggest problem with deviantART is the comment spam system. When I'm posting features or thanking people for favorites I constantly have to pause because deviantART thinks my numerous comments could be spam. Other websites and systems use Captcha in order to overcome this and I'd be a lot happier if I could just enter the silly captcha code every once in a while rather than having to wait hours just to thank someone or to tell them that they've been featured. This drives me crazy!"
Thank you to everyone who participated! I cannot wait to see your entries for Phase 2. thorns
